About us

Lebenshilfe Marburg - Standpunkte

About us – people are the focus of what we do

For more than 50 years we have been working for people with our 10,000 plus members in Hesse, with our local and district associations, with the community of Lebenshilfe organisations throughout Germany and with our full-time employees. We open up prospects. Future prospects for people with disabilities and for their families. Future prospects for specialists, managers and volunteers working in social pedagogy. Future prospects for school leavers, people starting out on their careers and people wanting to change careers.

Future prospects and visions for an inclusive society where it is normal to be different. Every day we are encouraged and motivated by our objective of achieving full social access for people with disabilities and shaping an inclusive society. We make a lasting impact on society with our voluntary work, our Vocational Education College for Social Welfare, our training, our Easy Language Centre and our advocacy work in the interests of people with disabilities.

The Lebenshilfe Landesverband Hessen e.V. was established in 1965 in Marburg and comprises 42 local, regional and district and associations with over 10,000 members. The association’s board is elected from among these members every three years. It consists of voluntary representatives of local Lebenshilfe organisations, coordinates the association’s work and social policy and represents the regional association and the interests of people with a (mental) disability to the outside world. Our work and focus are based on our charter. Decisions about our general principles are made with the involvement of members.

The Lebenshilfe Landesverband Hessen e.V. is a member of Lebenshilfe Bundesvereinigung e.V., Paritätische Hessen, LAG Selbsthilfe Hessen e.V. and Verein zur Förderung der Gedenkstätte Hadamar e.V.
