Vocational Education College
The Vocational Education College - Supporting your development – opening up new paths
The Vocational Education College for Social Welfare maintained by the Lebenshilfe Landesverband Hessen e.V. has been training students since 1997. With 20 years of experience behind it, the school’s sites in Marburg an der Lahn and Hochheim am Main provide an education that gives you the theory and practical experience to provide optimal support to people with disabilities and to work with children and young people. Over 700 students in all have been able to receive a state-certified qualification from our Vocational Education College over the years. Our experience tells us that our students’ employment rate is excellent in both professional areas.
A training course begins every year in Marburg on working in curative education care, while in Hochheim there is a course each year on social pedagogy and also one every three years on curative education care (starting summer 2016).
The objective of the Vocational Education College is to equip students both as citizens and professional specialists to support the development of an inclusive society. We teach the methodological concepts behind access and participation. People with disabilities should be able to participate in our society on an equal footing and in a self-determined way. Children and young adults become aware of the resources that are available to them and can develop these further. The shaping of educational partnerships is highly important here. We place considerable emphasis on dialogue, linking theory and practice together and cooperating across disciplines.
The Vocational Education College for Social Welfare is a member of the national and state associations of social care (BAG Hep e.V. and LAG Hep) and is involved in different working parties on social pedagogy.
